There’s something perverse, I find, in planting a hedge and meticulously keeping it trimmed into shape made of right angles. Now, if the hedge forms a wall, I can understand where they’re are coming from - it’s nicer to look at than a sun-bleached fence. But to cube a hedge at a meter a side: That almost feels like a move by someone who secretly hates hedges.
